A number of industrial robots have been developed at Lola Institute, Lola Robots Plant, Lola Machine Tools Plant and Lola Deformation Processing Machines Plant. The development and manufacturing of industrial robots started at Machine Tools Plant in 1980, while the earliest manipulators for machine tools handing, such as special lathes for turning of flying and lying crankshaft journals, were manufactured in 1974. Lola Robots Plant was established in 1990. To the present day it has been the only plant in Serbia and former Yugoslavia seriously engaged in the development and manufacturing of industrial robots.

The 5-axis industrial robot ILROT 5z was built in 1980. A two-handed pneumatic robot was also built then. The 6-axis versatile robot of joint configuration LOLA 80, loading capacity 80 kg, was developed at Lola Institute and manufactured in Lola Machine Tool Plant in 1986. Five such robots were installed in a robotic line for the production of JUGO FLORIDA car door. The robots performed spot welding and adhesive coating on the door. Similar robots, LOLA 50 and LOLA 100, were built later. In Lola Robots Plant the robot LOLA 15 was built, also of joint configuration, load capacity 15 kg, intended for arc welding and other specific robotic applications. It is here that approximately 100 robots and manipulators were manufactured to perform specific robotic tasks, such as handling of special lathes, transfer lines, presses, storage and palletization of components in various industrial lines, packing in confectionary industry, spot and arc welding, paint spraying. They had 2 or 3 axes and were of joint or gantry machine tools configuration. It is of special interest the 2-axis robot with the Kuhlmann mechanism intended for manipulation in the confectionary industry. This robot's manipulation cycle amounts to cca 1 sec.
At Lola Institute and Lola Robots Plant, in the period 1991 - 1997, researchers developed an industrial robot controller and robot control language for robot control and automatic lines intended for the most complex robotic and industrial applications. The activities on language improvement have been going on all the time.
